- documenting the times through poetryPeace, love, and prosperity Reader! It's been a while since I sent a friendly update. I trust you and yours are doing well. I want to share with you an important poem I recently wrote. It is relevant because it touches on the impact of social media on mental health. While social media is definitely a plus, the impact on young girls, in particular, is striking, to say the least. The poem is semi-autobiographical and semi-observational. There is at least one extreme exaggeration (hyperbole - can you spot it?) and it is seasoned with some Jamaican patois. This piece is also being set to music and I can't wait for you to hear the finished product. I toyed with the idea of titling the poem Social Media Dilemma because of its seeming necessity to modern living and at the same time its psychological damage to some people. It just boils down to responsible use in my opinion but the younger generation needs to be taught how to use social media responsibly. Click to hear the acapella version of the poem and read along. If you spot the hyperbole, hit the reply button and tell me what line it is.
P.S. I do have some near-future plans that I hope you will be a part of. I'll keep you posted and send a short four-question survey in my next email. Until next time, be good to yourself. With lots of love, Majeeda

Hey Reader, Can you believe we are already in December? Time certainly flies! I just wanted to share a quick update and to hear from you. I’ve been quite busy promoting my album Wedding Invitation, which I’m thrilled to announce has been longlisted for a Grammy! 🎉 While I didn’t make the final nomination cut, the recognition means so much to me and the broader world of poetry. When I wrote those poems for the album in my room during the global lockdown and recorded them right there at home, I...

Last time, I shared that I had been contemplating quitting social media based on my experience and observations on the various platforms. That resulted in a poem that I shared in my last newsletter. It's semi-autobiographical and semi-observational. I call it a dilemma because I have met some wonderful people on the various...
Hello lovely ones! I’m so excited to share with you that I have new music available! If you’ll remember, I told you I was recording a new poetry album. The new poetry album I’m working on features poems about women like Queen Esther, Rahab, Mary Magdalene, the Woman at the well, the two women of Revelation, a response to the Parable of the Ten Virgins, and more. I am making each of these poems available as singles...
